29 Jan Recent trends in Super Fruits

The super fruit category has been all the rage since the likes of Mangosteen, Acai, and Goji Berries came in into the market.  Yet there are many more fruits that American’s don’t know about but should.  Back in February of 2014, The LA Times wrote, “Move Over Acai: Latest ‘superfruits’ aim to make a nutritional mark”  in that article, Gac fruit is listed in one of four super fruits that are super nutritious.  The article went on to say,

Gac has 70 times the content of the antioxidant lycopene as a tomato does, according to scientists, and 10 times the beta-carotene of carrots. Lycopene, the carotenoid responsible for the red color of the fruit, has been linked to lower risk of heart disease and macular degeneration. A 2005 study by the International Journal of Oncology also suggested that gac may inhibit the growth of some cancers.

Although this fruit has a short harvest season and has limited availability, it will be available for you at Total Happiness Naturals.
